Milan needs to pick up the pace in Serie A

Milan (2.50) surrendered a two-goal lead last time out to lose 3-2 to Napoli in what was their first game of the season. Roma (2.80) have also played just once at the time of writing, beating Torino 1-0 in a tight encounter on the opening weekend.

Gennaro Gattuso will be desperate to see his team get up and running when they run out at San Siro for the first time in 2018/19, but Roma have the potential to cause them problems – overall, a draw looks like the leading option at 3.40.

Manchester City vs Newcastle

Manchester City (1.12) dropped points for the first time this season on Saturday when Wolverhampton Wanderers held them to a 1-1 draw at Molineux. Meanwhile, Newcastle (17.00) came close to securing the same result against Chelsea, but a late own goal from DeAndre Yedlin brought the Blues all three points.

The Magpies played extremely conservatively in that match and will go into this game with a similar plan, although City’s attacking firepower will surely prove too much. Back the hosts to win with a -1 handicap at 1.40.

Celtic vs Rangers

This weekend brings us the first Old Firm derby of the 2018/19 campaign, with Celtic (1.65) boss Brendan Rodgers set to lock horn with Steven Gerrard, the Rangers coach who once played under his now-managerial rival at Liverpool.

The Gers (4.60) remain unbeaten under the former midfielder at the time of writing, although their winning run was ended with an entertaining 3-3 draw against Motherwell last weekend. Celtic, meanwhile, have looked a little off the pace in the early weeks, but they have greater quality within their ranks and should emerge victorious in this one. A home win and over 2.5 goals is the way to go at 2.30.

Real Madrid vs Leganes

Real Madrid (1.11) may have dominated the Champions League in recent years, but their domestic record has been extremely poor for a club of their size: since 2012/13, los Blancos have won just one La Liga title.

It was a turbulent summer for the reigning European champions, who lost manager Zinedine Zidane and star man Cristiano Ronaldo, but they have bounced back from losing to Atletico Madrid in the Super Cup by beating Getafe and Girona in their first two league outings. It is hard to see Leganes (19.00) ending their 100 per cent start to the campaign – a home triumph to nil looks the best bet at 1.68.

Cardiff vs Arsenal

Arsenal (1.54) collected their first victory of the Unai Emery era last time out, beating West Ham United 3-1 at the Emirates Stadium. It was not a completely convincing display from the Gunners, who once again looked vulnerable at the back, but the former Paris Saint-Germain head coach will be delighted to get off the mark following consecutive defeats by Manchester City and Chelsea.

Cardiff (5.80) picked up a point on the road against Huddersfield but are still yet to score this term, a barren stretch which could come to an end here. Back both teams to score at 1.84.

Monaco vs Marseille

Monaco’s (2.62) business model is well established by now; the principality club have developed a reputation for purchasing and improving young players, before selling them on for a profit and reinvesting the funds in more fledgeling footballers.

Such an approach means it can take time for the team to gel at the start of each season, and that has again proven the case as Leonardo Jardim’s men sit on four points from a possible nine following last weekend’s loss to Bordeaux.

Marseille (2.50) will provide stern opposition in the standout fixture of matchday four in Ligue 1, although these two could cancel each other out – go for a draw at 3.60.
