FA Cup

It’s quarterfinals time in the FA Cup with four matches taking place this weekend, all with their very own odds boosts.

Watford kicks things off on Saturday afternoon when they welcome Crystal Palace to Vicarage Road as they look to do the treble on the south Londoners – Javi Gracia’s side has won both this season’s Premier League matches against Palace 2-1.

Swansea are next-up on Pep’s hitlist as the Spaniard looks to keep his side on course for the quadruple. City knocked another seven past Schalke in their midweek Champions League game, so who knows, maybe Aguero and Co. are getting a little bored of scoring all those goals and may choose to go easy on the south Wales outfit.

Probably the most entertaining match of the weekend, from an FA Cup perspective at least, Wolves host Manchester United at the Molineaux and have demonstrated on numerous occasions this season that they are not all bark and no bite.

And rounding off the weekend is Championship side Millwall, who take on Brighton at The Den, after seeing off the likes of Fulham, Everton and Wimbledon in rounds gone past.

Premier League

There’s a somewhat stunted Premier League line-up this weekend due to other teams involvement in the FA Cup, however, an opportunity for Liverpool to retake top-spot beckons.

Jurgen Klopp will be delighted to learn that the going is relatively good for their Sunday outing against Fulham and will be keen to take advantage of the fact that Manchester City will not be adding to their points total this side of the international break.

Elsewhere, West Ham will be looking to hammer-home their top-half status when they play bottom-side Huddersfield at the London stadium and to round the weekend off, Chelsea makes the trip to Goodison Park as they look to put pressure on United and Spurs for a top-four finish when they play Everton in the late game on Sunday.

Order has been restored at the head of the Bundesliga table with Bayern reclaiming top-spot from Dortmund (albeit on goal difference) following their 6-0 drubbing of Wolfsburg last weekend.

This leaves Lucien Favre in a spot of bother following BVB’s swift exit from the Champions League at the hands of Tottenham. Let’s hope they can shake-off their woes and give us a Bundesliga title race we all long for so much.

Gladbach will be keen to set the pace for Leipzig on Friday evening when they play Freiburg with the two sides deadlocked on 46 points in third and fourth respectively.

La Liga

Well, where else to start other than the return of Zizou to La Liga just ten months after departing.
Zidane left Real Madrid citing the clubs “Need for Change” which saw the Spanish giants also sell Cristiano Ronaldo. Nice one Florentino. Lol! The Frenchman kicks off his second-spell against Celta at the Bernabeu.

On a more positive note, Getafe, from out of nowhere, are currently four points clear in La Liga’s last Champions League slot. José Bordalás is doing a fine job on a shoe-string budget (by comparison to his competitors) though they’ll be tested this weekend when they travel to Valencia.
