If you go over twenty-one, your hand is bust, and you lose your bet. Otherwise, the dealer then starts their turn. Their aim is to beat your hand, and they will always hit up to a value of 17. The dealer cannot split, double down or surrender.
If the dealer goes over twenty-one, they bust, and you win your bet. If they fail to reach the same or higher value, you also win your bet. If they reach the same value, the bet is a push, and your stake is returned. If they beat your hand, you lose your bet. In Blackjack, wins are paid out at 1:1. However, you can also win by hitting a Blackjack.
A Blackjack is an Ace with a face card. This pays out at 3:2 at most casinos, although some versions of the game might be different. The dealer can also hit a Blackjack, meaning they win instantly.
